PITTSBURG — Police arrested a Pittsburg man early Thanksgiving Day for murdering another Pittsburg man the day before.
Pittsburg police responded to an apartment at 1116 S. Elm St. at 10:54 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, for a shooting. Pittsburg firefighters and Crawford County ambulance personnel also responded.
Officers found an adult male, Fedor Lee Warren Lomax, 29, of Pittsburg, had been shot inside the apartment and that the shooter had left. Lomax was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Information developed early led to the identity of the shooter as Kevin J. Hukill 25. Officers found Hukill at a home in the 300 block of East Park Street in Pittsburg. Attempts to contact the occupants of the residence were unsuccessful. A search warrant was obtained and entry into the residence was made, and after a thorough search, officers arrested Hukill in the attic, according to a release from Pittsburg police. Successful negotiations by a Pittsburg police negotiator led to Hukill’s surrender at 5:33 a.m. Thanksgiving Day.
Hukill was arrested on suspicion of one count of murder in the second degree, felony interference with law enforcement, felon in possession of a firearm and a Crawford County felony arrest warrant for failing to appear on a previous drug charge. Hukill was taken to the Crawford County Jail, where he remains without bond.
