OSWEGO — Oswego police and fire personnel responded to a house fire Sunday in Oswego.
The owners of the home at 630 Iowa, James and Jo Wimp, tragically died in the fire. He was 91 and she was 90.
According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal in Topeka, two special agents responded to the fire at the request of the Labette County Sheriff's Office. The cause of the fire is undetermined, but there is nothing suspicious about the fire, the fire marshal's office said.
The fire marshal's release on the fire said the Wimps were pulled from the house by emergency responders. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and both died from their injuries.
The service for the Wimps will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Derfelt Funeral Home in Oswego.
The Oswego fire chief and police chief were not available for comment on Monday.
