It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward G. “Eddy” Escolas on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, at the age of 61.
Eddy was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, son of the late Donald Escolas and Frances (Caissie) Wheeler and his stepmother Rosemary Escolas of Florida.
He lived in Oxford, Massachusetts until age 10 and then moved to Brockton, where he graduated from Southeastern Regional High School in 1981. Eddy’s love for motorcycles started at a young age. His first time on a track was driving a go-kart on New England Dragway when he was 8. He began racing in his teens and was very proud of his accomplishments on the track. This passion led to him opening his own business in Brockton in the early 1980s where he would build and repair bikes. He later moved to Tampa, Florida, and then to Kansas, where he continued to work with motorcycles.
When Ed wasn’t racing or building bikes, he worked long hours as a boiler maker/ironworker. He was employed for over 45 years, traveling to different states to work on various jobs; some that lasted months. He was a very hard worker, and his crew knew they were in great hands when they were working with him.
Eddy was a varsity goalie, an incredible drummer and an accomplished drag racer. He enjoyed boating and fishing and is also known to have caught an alligator or two throughout the years. He always had a story to share that would no doubt leave you laughing. He was a kind and helpful man and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Ed leaves behind his children, Amanda Fitzgerald and her husband, Josh, of Michigan, and his son, Allen Escolas of Kansas. He is the brother of Donald “Doni” Escolas Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of California, Dan Escolas and his wife, Tina, of Florida, Wade Wheeler of Kansas, Mary Fowler and her husband, Travis, of Georgia, and the late Diane Escolas and Kenny Escolas. Eddy is also survived by his sister-in-law, Jodi Escolas; his nephew, Joseph Escolas of Massachusetts; many lifelong friends, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and his grandchildren, Amber, Tayven and Jameson.
A celebration of Eddy’s life will be at a later date.
