RGANIZATIONS Don’t Dodge Difficulty FCE
Don’t Dodge Difficulty FCE met Oct. 15 at Westside Christian Church. The group tied seven quilts and discussed the state conference that was in Chanute the week before. Three members attended the conference.
On Nov. 12, the group met at Annette Robinson’s home. The unit divided 62 quilts to different charitable organizations that serve Labette County. The unit reported 164 volunteer hours for October and November. A short business meeting followed with Donn Strickland leading the flag salute. Robinson read the poem, “My Unfailing Friend” by Thomas Risk.
Three unit members attended the fall workshop at the SEK Agricultural Research Center in Parsons. The unit also planned for the spring tea, which will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 3 at the Research Center. DDD is in charge. Unit members discussed a speaker, caterer, decorations, registration and other issues related to the tea.
Strickland had the lesson on citizenship, which is complex and simple. Citizenship means doing your part to make your community a better place to live. The lesson made unit members think about obligations of citizenship in America.
The Dec. 3 meeting will be a Christmas party and to sign Christmas cards for residents of nursing homes.
