Parsons Chess teams attended the Pittsburg Middle School chess tournament this weekend. Parsons High School was represented with a three-man team and came away with a third place trophy out of 10 teams. All three students medaled in the top 15 out of 49 players in the K-12 Division. Lucas Fugate (above) was the top medalist. He tied for first with 5.50 points, but due to tiebreaker procedures, he earned the second place medal. Kyle Chen earned the sixth place medal with 4. Raymond Oler earned the 12th place medal with 4 wins. In the K-8 Division there were 10 teams with 53 players. Parsons Middle School had three players in this division. Gabriel Klonowski earned the 13th place medal with 4 wins. Kellian Clevenger also had 4 wins and earned the 16th place medal. Elijah Downey also participated and had 2 wins. These boys ended up in sixth place out of 10 teams. There will be no more tournaments until next semester. Chanute High School won the tournament.
