He was born April 11, 1943, at Loris, South Carolina, a son of Marvin and Dulah (Futrill) Todd. He grew up at Loris and attended Loris High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1961, at age 17, and was stationed at the Bergstrom Air Force Base in Travis County, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Ruby. Following his discharge in 1965, he continued living in Texas, traveling while working as a route salesman. He moved to Parsons in 1974 and continued in his career, working for the Phillip Morris Co. He was most recently employed by Prestige Coffee, retiring in 2010.

On Aug. 3, 1963, he married Ruby L. Woody at Austin, Texas. The couple recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Mrs. Todd survives of the home.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Lodge No. 117, A.F.&A.M. Bill was an avid reader and puzzle master. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Time with his family was his greatest joy.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, William E. “Bill” Todd Jr. and his wife, Jody, Franklin, Tennessee; a daughter, Laura Brittingham and her husband, Scott, Blue Springs, Missouri; five grandchildren, Kaleigh Todd, Hannah Smith and her husband, Nathan, Nicholas Brittingham, Madeleine Brittingham and Liam Todd; a sister, Betty Davis and her husband, John, Loris, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

He will also be remembered and missed by his constant canine companion, Shiloh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and eight of his nine sisters.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Claude Shue officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to Faith United Methodist Church and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS, 67357.
